What is anxiety? What are the symptoms of anxiety? This article will discuss the answer to those questions. You will also learn the symptoms of anxiety disorder and the six major types of anxiety. This article will teach you the symptoms of a panic attack and it will also discuss how to find relief from anxiety.

Anxiety, also known as a panic attack, is an intense fear that comes on quickly. Anxiety can range from mild which may be vague and unsettling to severe which can be extremely debilitating. Anxiety is often triggered by stress. You may also make yourself anxious with "negative self-talk" such as always telling yourself the worse will happen.

The symptoms of an anxiety disorder are emotional and physical. Below are lists of both the emotional and physical symptoms of anxiety disorder.

Emotional Symptoms-

1 Feeling of apprehension or dread

2 Trouble concentrating

3 Feeling tense or jumpy

4 Expecting the worse

5 Irritability

6 Restlessness

7 Expecting or watching for danger

8 Mind going blank

Physical Symptoms-

1 Heart pounding

2 Sweating

3 Nausea or dizziness

4 Frequent urination or diarrhea

5 Shortness of breath

6 Tremors or twitching

7 Muscle tension

8 Headache

9 Fatigue

10 Insomnia

If you are experiencing these symptoms you may have an anxiety disorder. There are six major types of anxiety disorder:

1 Generalized anxiety disorder

2 Obsessive compulsive disorder

3 Panic disorder

4 Phobias

5 Post traumatic stress disorder

6 Social anxiety disorder

If you have an unhealthy lifestyle and a lot of stress you are likely to feel a
lot of anxiety. The symptoms of an anxiety attack are:

1 overwhelming panic

2 feeling of losing control

3 heart palpitations

4 feeling like you will faint

5 trouble breathing

6 hyperventilation

7 hot flashes or chills

8 shaking

9 nausea

10 feeling detached

If you are experiencing these symptoms you should see your doctor. There are medications available to help you. No matter what your stress and anxiety level is, there are simple things you can do everyday to reduce your stress level. You may need to give up a few of your responsibilities. Taking onto much is a leading cause of stress. If you feel isolated, confide in a close friend. Sometimes just talking to someone about your problems and worries will help. Another way to relieve stress and anxiety is through meditation. If you follow these simple steps you will begin to feel better.

Step 1 - sit or lie in a comfortable position

Step 2 - close your eyes

Step 3 - breath slowly and deeply.

Step 4 - focus your thoughts on breathing, notice the movement of your body as you breathe

Step 5 - as you exhale say a word such as "calm" say it so it sounds like

c-a-a-a-l-l-l-m-m-m repeating a word will help you to stay focused.

Step 6 - continue until you feel very relaxed

Another great stress reducer is exercising. As you exercise, don't let your mind wonder. For example if your running outside, enjoy the fresh air and warm sun. Try not to think about the things that cause you stress. The best way to reduce your stress and anxiety is simply to make sure you take time everyday to do something you enjoy.

In conclusion, this article explained what anxiety is. It listed the symptoms of anxiety disorder and panic attack. You learned how to meditate and you also learned simple steps you can take everyday to reduce your anxiety level.
