Many people suffer from depression everyday. This article will discuss how vitamin D may affect the on set of depression, the symptoms of depression and how to help someone who has depression.
Let me begin by telling you that, I am not a doctor and anyone suffering from depression should seek professional help. This is for those of us who love someone who is suffering from depression, you have to understand what depression is like to help. Most people who have a loved one who is suffering from depression feel as though they did something wrong, as if they have caused this disease somehow. First, know this, you did nothing wrong, I believe that depression is a vitamin D deficiency. This is why we suffer from cabin fever, you see, in order for our bodies to absorb vitamin D we have to have sunlight. Like I said, I'm not a doctor it just my opinion.
Having depression is like having the weight of the world on your shoulders. Not only do you feel as if you have failed at everything (it doesn't have to be true for people to believe it) you have physical pain as well. I don't understand why this happens and I don't know if doctors do either, but it does happen. To help, listen to what the person is saying. If they say for instance, "Your never around, that's why I'm depressed." Try be around more, you would be amazed at what it does for a depressed person to know that someone really d
oes care. Or, if for instance, the person doesn't want to leave the house, plan a peaceful picnic and surprise them. What I'm saying is that even though medication helps nothing can help more than knowing that you have wonderful people around you who want you to get better. I found this out through my own personal battle with depression. I found that all I needed was vitamin D and a lot of love. I am not telling you this will help everyone but after overcoming depression that is what I concluded, that vitamin D and support would do the trick.
Symptoms of Depression:
Emotional- constant sadness, irritability, and feeling of isolation
Physical- trouble sleeping, low energy or fatigue, and muscle aches
Functional- difficulty concentrating, lack of motivation and loss of interest
Depression makes it hard to enjoy life, some people may stop participating in hobbies they had once
enjoyed or may have stopped exercising. They may stop going out with their friends, isolating themselves making them feel even more alone. Their work may suffer or they may loose their job all together. Some people have trouble with their children or their partner. Finally, they may loose their interest in things that they once loved.
If you know anyone suffering from these symptoms, please get them help immediately. The sooner they see a doctor the sooner they can get back to the life they once loved. Try to support them and ask their doctor about taking vitamin D.
