Everyone knows that each individual has their special purpose in this world. All I need to be reminded of this is to watch any toddler in action, they're full of excitement, zest and curiosity about everything around them. That's why it's especially tragic to lose that. No matter what, I've always been careful to never ever let go of that. I've always been aware that without me being true to myself, and what's important to me, nothing else matters. I've witnessed how people can have their whole world turned upside down by decisions and circumstances. As the years go by I realise that time is the greatest teacher of all. Each experience enriches you in order to deal with or cope with what's to come, and to grow as a human being. It's not about the amount of breaths you take, it's about the moments that take your breath away. True joy is when you do something not just for the profit, status etc but purely because you love it and nothing makes you happier. When you experience that, it frees you from your inhibitions and you learn to love yourself so that you can love others and be loved in return. However, ladies always drop their standards when it comes to relationships. I see it all the time, the older a woman gets she panics that there aren't any decent men left. The men are all too aware of this and use it to their advantage. I strongly believe that personal fulfilment comes first. The greatest gift is that of choice, you choose who you want to be, what you need and don't need. When for whatever reason, be it responsibilities, etc try to change the person you are in order to adapt it really becomes a fight for survival. If you succumb to pressure, you're lying to yourself and others by being who others want you to be. You'll end up just going through the motions, with a void you can't explain.
Human stories always fascinate me. None is more compelling than one I've heard recently. There's a housewife who after years of being married realised that her kids are growing up and won't need her as much, After years
of sacrificing a job that meant the world to her to be a stay at home mom, this was a terrifying realisation. She mentioned this to her husband, and instead of being understanding and supportive, he couldn't understand that it was a part of her she needed to revive to find herself. Another young man wrote to me once telling me that he was in his third year of medical school when he decided to pursue a different career. A good friend of mine graduated but admitted that she wasn't even sure if she wanted to work in the field she studied. Through it all, both of them were liberated by being true to themselves as hard as it was. Freedom means a lot of things to different people, independence, respect and acceptance. I wrote a song I'd like to share. It pretty much sums up all that I've mentioned. It's called Dreams
Verse 1
Somewhere somehow deep in my heart
There's a special place that I trust
A place where the soul rides like a cart
It's where you'll find lust
Nothing there is as it seems
It's the founder and origins of dreams
CHORUS
Dreams are a way of survival
A way of soul revival
A means to fulfil our purpose
Dreams are where time is something we compose
Where we can reverse or go forward, see thing in a new perspective
It's an experience of personal magic
Without it no one holds the power of being directive
Live the dream, you can achieve, no use being nostalgic
Verse 2
Once the message is clear, take action
At times there may be disappointments
How can anyone appreciate a dream without a little rejection?
Trials may come but remember to cherish precious moments
Face the world, get up and try again
Above all, never give up, if you believe, strength is what you gain
CHORUS
Verse 3
Shouldn't you enjoy life to the fullest?
Don't despair if that's not the case but be modest
Who knows what tomorrow may comprise
Be true to yourself, that way a dream may approach before you realise
CHORUS
