Dry chapped lips are the worst. They can often hurt and do not look very nice either. There are easy steps that you can take to get rid of them for once and for all.
First of all do not lick your lips. This will only dry them out more. And chewing on your lips is a no no as well. This will only make your lips look worse than what they do.
You will need to apply chapstick to them daily to really lock in moisture. Apply as often as necessary. You can use what ever you have on hand. And carry it with you where ever you go. Or if you need serious treatment, try Carmex. It works wonders and I love the tingly feeling that it leaves on my lips.
If you use lipstick, make sure that it is not further drying out your lips. Some lipsticks do not add moisture and only cause more drying. When I wear lipstick I like to use a good chapstick underneath or on top of it to deliver more moisture to my lips.
Try exfoliating the lips as well. You can do this with either your toothbru
sh and some water or by using an exfolitor that you make. If you use your toothbrush, run the brush over your lips after brushing your teeth, Make sure that the toothpaste is all off as toothpaste can further dry out your lips. Or make your own exfoliator by using some sugar mixed with water and rub into lips, then risne well. If you do not like either of these, try rubbing a warm wash cloth over your lips to really help the dead dry skin flake off.
You can also use tea bags on your lips. The tannic acid really helps heal chapped lips. Just hold a wet tea bag on your lips for a few minutes. Within minutes you lips will feel softer and relief will be in site.
Drink, drink drink. Increase your water content and lips will be happier.
If you are doing all of these things and your lips still are not healed, there may be some other problems. You may need to change your toothpaste as this could possibly be a cause for your dry lips. Or stop wearing lipstick and stick strictly to glosses.
Follow these great tips and your lips will thank you.
