I would not be the first concerned citizen that is trying to appeal to our Government to reduce crime in our country, Jamaica. The new Prime minister is indeed making a lot of effort to enforce a positive change. We do appreciate the free education and the new health system which is a big breakthrough for underprivileged people but the main issue in the country is crime and violence. What use is books and free medical care when guns are making life extremely short?
No matter what continent or country, there are always people who are going against the law and we all know that every country has its problems. Though I am proud to be Jamaican, I am ashamed of the news that are being broadcasted day after day. Is it illegal to get help from neighboring countries? Do we have enough policemen and soldiers to target criminals and to help keep the country clean from violence? Even if we are not in need of crimefighters, are we equiped and skilled enough to put things under control?
Too lo
ng have we lived in fear keeping guard in our own homes. People who have lived and worked abroad are terrified of the idea of returning to Jamaica to enjoy the life of retirement. Some people are trying to get off the island just to feel safe for a few more years and it should not be like this. Home is home.Where else should we feel more secure?
Too many articles are being read about people being killed. Children are the most innocent of all, yet they too are vulneerable both at home and in their schools. New roads and highways does not matter in a time like this. There is a need for Jamaicans to feel safe.
Senior citizens can recite stories of a peaceful and united country, a place where love was abundant and smiles were bountiful. What is happening to Jamaica?
Mother´s tears flood the land with grief for their children. Enough is enough.Too much bloodshed. We are sick and tired of it. Things and times change but it should not be for worst but for better. It is possible to have a safe country, so why is there no enforcement to bring back the good old Jamaica?
