The solution to controlling and eventually combating this damaging habit is recognizing when you're beginning to procrastinate, understand why it's occurring, and taking active steps for better managing time and outcomes.

Activity logs

If you really want to manage your time effectively, then it's important to find out how you're really spending it. Do you know how long it takes for you to do unimportant things? Things that do not actually contribute to work success, or time spent talking with colleagues, reading junk mail, making coffee, or longer lunch breaks, are some activity logs that lessen your time on more important things that need to be accomplished.
