Something stirred me early this morning, even before the kids. It's Sunday. The credit crunch has left stuck in a house that is too small for us, and with no way to sell or rent to upgrade to a more suitable accommodation so we are now forced to sleep in the semi-converted attic to allow room for my aging father to spend so time with us. As you can imagine I am not thrilled with the situation of climbing up a ladder to a cold and damp loft room every night, probably why I have had a cold for the last two weeks!

Today I realized why I ended up in this house. This house may be small, cold and drafty but it has one advantage above all others that I have lived in or would hope to live in in the future. It is inline with the rising and setting of the sun. Each day I am greeting with a beautiful sunrise and in the evening it sets behind the Antrim Hills. It is as spectacular and as individual each as the people on this planet. And should I remember to rise before the sun or watch it set in the evening I am never disappointed.

As I watched this frosty morning through to open window I became aware of my warm breath drifting out across the window glass and off into the air. This must be why smokers marvel at their own fumes as they walk along outside. It shows us that we are connected to the air around us, that we contribute in some way. I thought about my A-level biology class when we learned that plants take in the CO2 we breath out and expel the Oxygen that we breath in, I guess that's why people say if you talk to plants they grow better. Effectively we are feeding them by breathing on them, and I guess if scientists cared to study the effects of the human voice on plant physiology they'd probably find out the resonance between the voice and cells of plants actually strengthens the plants in some way. Awesome isn't it?

A thought came into my head. 'It's all for you, those of you who feel my presence and influence in your life, it's all for you. Those who don't will miss out on all that I have provided for you. Your lives will be filled with stress and worries you create yourselves, simply by not taking pleasure in all that I have given you.

I am the last person to think that God gives me messages for the world but if what I have said helps someone to appreciate their life a little more and to enjoy this amazing beauty that surrounds us, then so be it. I certainly appreciate my surroundings a little more after today and am looking forward to watching many more beautiful skies from my own windows.
