Snag a Same day Doctor's Appointment. You're a little worried and need to get in to see a doctor right away? Tell the receptionist: "I don't usually bug the doctor, but I think this might be serious"! Saying the word "serious" bumps you up in priority. And most doctors hold one morning and one afternoon appointment aside just for these situations. If it's not an emergency but you still want to get checked that day? Ask to see a nurse or physician assistant!
Use Miles for the Flight you Want. You finally have enough frequent flier miles for a free trip; you can't seem to get a flight? You're not out of luck! While the airline's web site may say those free seats are already booked, many keep a few free seats aside and don't release them until closer to the flight date. Call the folks at your frequent flier program instead of using their web site. Ask to speak with the supervisor in charge.
Get a Room When the Hotel is Booked. Did the reservation operator tell you there are no rooms available? Don't give up! Skip the 800 reservation line and call the individual hotel directly. Ask to speak to the manager on duty or the director of sales. They have the up to the minute status on every room in the hotel.
