Sentence Structure
Sentence Structure
Well, we all know english language, but how many of us are effective speakers? not as many as we would like. So what is the basic difference between knowing the language and applying it? The answer is simple its like baking the cake and eating it. It is totally different. A language can be learnt easily through books but to master it you have to practise it rigorously. So, we all have been taught english language and its grammar. basically we were taught the language and now its left to us to practise it.
Sentence structure is that part of practising where a person puts his knowledge of the language into use appropriately. It is not a compulsion to follow rules of grammar when framing sentences, neither is it necassary to refer to your grammar books in order to frame sentences. It is basically a thing that uses a person's creatibity, his choice of words and the confidence with which he delivers it. All these are essential components of sentence structure. If one is not involved then the process is incomplete. For example if you don't have the proper word placement in your sentence but you spoke it confidently it is very hard for the listener (if he is a good effective speaker himself) to not laugh at you.
We need to understand that grammar was taught in our school days, this was done for a reason. In school days we learn our basics and hence this is our foundation. The purpose of grammar is understanding of the language and not use it in practise. Once you understand the language it becomes easier to practise it without referring to grammar. However it should be understood that grammar is an essential part of the language without which using the language becomes quite impossible. So, basically i am not implying that grammar is useless all i am saying is that it doesn't have that much use in regular life in communication skills. But, however learning grammar thoroughly makes the process of sentence structure easier and more effective.
