chpt.5 Confrontation

Well, I had my way this time. My mom was waiting for me, for an explanation. The applause was deafening, photo flashes completly surroundered me, sounds of eating, laughter, and small talk filled the air. My court(the cousins who had danced with me) had all gone to sit and eat with their own families. But all I saw was my mom's expresionless face. I was scared. "Thats my girl!", my dad hugged me. The trance was completly broken and his booming voice penetrated my thoughts. "You liked it?", I asked . He nodded. "Compadre!", he said looking above my head. And he left me alone to face mama so he could go chill with the other dads. "Bueno mija, what happened?", she asked. "We had a change in plans", I muttered. "And what happened to that other song you were going to dance to? Esa estaba bien bonita. You just made a ridicule of yourself! What kind of noise were you dancing to anyways?" ,she demanded. She was upset. "I'm sorry, but its my quince!", I said. I was getting mad. This day was about me, not her. Her expression changed. "Ok fine go sit down and eat," she said quicky. I turned around and saw the camera crew close by. She didn't want us to be filmed fighting. I went to sit down with my court. They were serving birria(meat), with beans and rice.

"Ey, what your mom say?", Roy grinned. "She's pissed," I muttered. I picked at my food, I wasn't that hungry. As we ate, a grupo sang and put us all in a cherry mood. The older guests enjoyed it most, but the rest of us couldn't wait for the DJ to come. The litle kids were all outside in the parking lot, playing and whatnot. The groupo played for about an hour, and they were really good. While they played songs, I greeted every single one of my guests, to make sure thy were happy and to give them a chance to congratulate me. They all seemed to have liked my suprise dance. I was happy. I got a lot of hugs, presents, and took lots of pics with my family.

Finally, the DJ arrived. The lights dimmed, and me and my court made our way to the dance floor. We had to make the mood because everyone else was to shy to dance. At least for now. The first song was durangense, so we danced to that. I danced with Omar, cuz I didnt want to make my mom any angrier by picking Roy. It
was fun, and Omar and I danced our hearts out. By the time the 3rd song was over, I was tired as heck. Omar and I went to sit down. Most of the court was already sitting down, except for Blanca and Richi. They were still going at it! A lot more people were dancing to it now, even a couple of little kids. They looked so cute. The music was booming, people were dancing, the lights were dimmed, people talked, and I was having a good time.

I talked to some of my other cousins outside and socialized. Then some of my friends came.

I had only invited like 3, so I was happy they had shown up. Mycousins kinda stared, cuz I suppose my friends are a little weird looking, well at least for them. haha.

Chris, wearing a bright blue shirt and skinny jeans with a piercing on his nose and long shaggyish blond hair. Marlin with her short spikish hair with blue highlights wearing a silver short dress, and her boyfrien David. White sweater, skinnies, and brown scene hair.

"HEy!", I said all excited. "Happy quinces!" Marlin gushed and hugged me. I got a big hug from chris and David gave me a small one. He didn't want to make Marlin jelous. "Do you guys want something to eat?", I asked. "Nah, lets go dance!", Marlin said pulling me away from my cousins and onto the dance floor. The music had changed to reggaeton. David and Chris followed, and we all began to bust off some moves. It was kind of funny to see two white guys trying to dance reggaeton, but I gotta say. THey were kinda good, haha. Chris tried out a dirty dance move on me and I started to follow him. Both of my parents were outside talking to the other parents, so I didnt care. We danced for a while, than talked and joked around for a bit. I ended up pouring soda on a LOT of people, it was hilarious! It hit 10pm, and I was sad to watch my friends go, but they had a curfew. After they were gone, the party continued.

I danced with my cousins, random hot guys I didn't even know.. A lot of people started to leave, and so I had to say bye to each one that left. We ate cake and the camera guy took lots of photos and left. Soon, the room was almost empty, and we danced till the DJ left.

Then I helped clean up a little bit. Some family stayed behind to clean up the place, but I didnt. I went home to sleep, I was exhausted! A quinces is a very special memory, and I willl never forget mine. ;D

the end
